Memory

This research strand is roughly divided into two individual projects.

Jointly with Gregor Feindt, Friedemann Pestel, and Rieke Trimçev, I research Languages of Conflict: Ideas of Europe in European Memory. This project explores from a conceptual as well as an empirical angle questions related to collective memory and European (dis)integration. Amongst others, the Center for  Interdisciplinary Studies (Bielefeld) and the John Fell Fund (Oxford) made this research possible and it is currently supported by the Stiftung Genshagen through a “scholars in residence” scheme.

Jointly with George Soroka I am working on The Proliferation of Memory Laws and the Return of the Nation. We have organised a workshop in August 2018 entitled Circulating across Europe? Transgressive Narratives about the Past which took place in Cambridge, MA. The programme is available here. We have also conceived a three-part podcast series related to that event.
